Participant Feedback
Responses collected within the past month from participants who completed one of our three programmes.
Siti Lailatul
Petaling Jaya · Steady Reserve Workshop
"I'd been meaning to sort out a proper reserve for about two years but kept putting it off. The workshop gave me a structure I could actually follow. The weekly sessions were calm and the group was small enough that I didn't feel embarrassed asking questions. By week three I'd set a figure and started putting something aside consistently."

Muhammad Hafiz
Ampang · Rainy-Day Reserve Course
"The self-paced course was well written and didn't talk down to me — which I appreciated, since I have no background in finance. The goal planner was genuinely useful. I took about three weeks rather than two to go through it because I wanted to sit with each section. It would be nice to have an optional check-in with someone from the team during the course, but overall I'd recommend it."

Priya Vanitha
Cheras · Complete Emergency Fund Program
"Nine weeks felt like the right amount of time. The live sessions kept me accountable and the check-ins were helpful without being pushy. What I found most valuable was the framing — it was never about comparing yourself to some ideal, just about making small adjustments that actually fit your life. I finished the programme with a clearer picture of my finances than I've had in years."

Tan Yee Lin
Kepong · Steady Reserve Workshop
"What stood out for me was that nobody talked about investing or building wealth — it was genuinely just about having a buffer. That felt refreshing. A lot of what I'd come across before was pushing products or bigger financial goals. The facilitator was patient and the group exercises helped me think through things I wouldn't have on my own."

Ahmad Ridhwan
Shah Alam · Rainy-Day Reserve Course
"I enrolled because my wife suggested it after she'd heard about Rainvault from a colleague. I was a bit sceptical that a short course would change anything for me — but the material was more thoughtful than I expected. The checklist in particular helped me see that the amount I needed to set aside was smaller than I'd assumed. That made starting feel less daunting."

Noor Khairunnisa
Kuala Lumpur · Complete Emergency Fund Program
"I joined the full programme during a period when my job situation was uncertain — which made the timing feel particularly relevant. Nine weeks gave me enough time to actually build the habits rather than just learn about them. The community access has been a helpful reminder to keep going even after the programme officially ended. I feel noticeably more settled about my finances now."

Participant Journeys
Three accounts — different circumstances, different programmes — that give a sense of how the process unfolds in practice.
Siti Lailatul — Petaling Jaya
Steady Reserve Workshop · 4 weeks
Starting Point
Working as a school administrator, Siti had a steady income but had never managed to keep savings beyond a few hundred ringgit. After an unexpected car repair bill, she realised she had no buffer at all — and found the experience quite stressful.
What Helped
The workshop helped her identify that her target reserve — based on two months of essential costs — was smaller than she'd imagined. She set a specific figure and agreed with herself on a modest monthly contribution that didn't require cutting anything significant.
After the Programme
Within six weeks of finishing the workshop, she had started building her reserve consistently. She described feeling "less anxious about what might come up" — not because of the amount saved, but because she had a plan and was following it.
"It wasn't the money that changed — it was knowing what I was working toward and that the figure was actually reachable."
Priya Vanitha — Cheras
Complete Emergency Fund Program · 9 weeks
Starting Point
Priya worked in logistics and had been through a brief period of reduced hours the previous year. The experience left her determined to build a reserve — but on her own she'd start, lose momentum after a few weeks, and stop again.
What Helped
The 9-week structure gave her a sense of ongoing accountability. The facilitator check-ins weren't intrusive — they were brief and focused on whether her routine was still working, not on judging her progress against any particular milestone.
After the Programme
By the end of the nine weeks, she had maintained a consistent saving routine for longer than ever before. She continued after the programme ended using the toolkit's review framework to check in on herself monthly.
"I finished with a clearer picture of my finances than I've had in years — and that's without anyone telling me what to do with my money."
Ahmad Ridhwan — Shah Alam
Rainy-Day Reserve Course · ~3 weeks
Starting Point
Ahmad worked in the civil service and had a degree of financial stability, but had never formally calculated what an actual reserve should look like for his household. He enrolled feeling somewhat sceptical about whether a course would shift anything for him.
What Helped
The goal planner exercise revealed that his mental estimate of how much he needed to save had been significantly higher than the actual calculation suggested. Seeing the realistic figure — based on his own expenses — reduced the resistance he'd been feeling.
After the Programme
He completed the course over three weeks and described the shift as mainly psychological — not a dramatic change in behaviour, but a reduction in the vague anxiety he'd felt about not having a clear plan. He started contributing to a dedicated account shortly after.
"The checklist helped me see that what I needed to set aside was smaller than I'd assumed. That made starting feel less daunting."
